Basically I'm trying to understand if something like https://login.mysitename.co.uk is possible as well as https://www.mysitename.co.uk and what the requirements are to set this up. Also, if I use dedicated SSL can I submit any certificate including temporary ones generated with OpenSSL for testing purposes?

1. I think if you buy the certificate of eUKhost and your
website hosting is hosted here Support will install your certificate for you if you ask (and I think they do it automatically on purchase of the certificate).
2. As I understand it your top domain and any subdomain under it can be configured to use the certificate. I base this on the fact that the shared SSL can be used on all of your
website hosting, subdomains and pages.
3. You would only need 1 dedicated IP address for the certificate.
4. All the pages underneath the main domain would be available to be configured with the SSL certificate as far as I know.
Not sure about your last question. You will have to wait for someone else.
I am 90% sure on my answers above and have only intended them as a guide until someone who knows for sure can confirm this.
Hope that helps
