If you originally installed OSC into the domain root, I'm wondering if it added/modified your .htaccess file which cannot now be deleted (or back-pedalled automatically, to how it used to be)? This would not have happened if you'd have chosen or created a folder for OSC in Fantastico, then uninstalled — it would have deleted the complete folder ...
