The minimum wage for 16-17 year olds is £3.30 per hour. On October 2007 this will increase to £3.40. No employer is allowed to set an hourly rate that is not within the National Minimum Wage. You'd have to check www.direct.gov.uk for accurate information regarding the National Minimum Wage Act, however.

Yeah it is. If you worked 40 hours a week at £3.30 you'd get a gross pay £528 per month and that isn't a lot indeed.
