As you are using the newsletter to send mails directly from the website hosting,it would be better if you send the mails in batches that is say 40-50 mails an hour(for every hour a particular batch runs).
Sending mails at one time to more than 1500+ registered users would definately cause your domain to be disabled/suspended.

I am now looking into local SMTP servers that can be used for mass-mailing.
