Once again please don't take his suggestion in wrong way. Level of technical knowledge I've earned so far has come out of great level of hard work and I am paid for the knowledge I've gained so far.
You have all time in the world to gain more knowledge and earn $£€ what others cannot imagine to earn in their whole life.

Of course I won't take the suggestion the wrong way!

I only saw it as a friendly suggestion (which is what I am sure Roger wanted it to be) and I understand it.
Obviously people have different view on different topics some of the time - but this is what the forum is built on - people discussing topics and drawing their own conclusions where people sometimes agree and sometimes disagree. It doesn't mean you don't like the person, just that you have a different opinion on it. One of the great things about this forum is that we are all able to voice our opinions (in a civil manner of course).
I don't bite peoples heads off (or at least that is certainly not my intention) and I am always willing to listen to people who wish to discuss things or tell me things.

I agree with your comment and the fact I probably could learn it. The reason it frustrates me is because I have followed countless tutorials to the letter and so called "expert" advice on it and it still doesn't work. So after not being able to find any useful information on it my patience runs thin very fast. Also I have more interest in other areas of computing (especially as my Degree points me in this way) such as programming in C/C++, HTML, Javascript, Java and VB as well as other topics such as maintaining Windows and Linux based systems and getting the most out of your computer.
I enjoy the forum and am glad I can help - so I am willing to have patience but when I have been driven into a brick wall by tutorial after tutorial and comment after comment maybe you can understand my position?
If anybody has any reliable source of information or is knowledgeable on the subject themselves then I would consider looking into it again. But also my reason for not persisting with it is that ICS seems to work seemlessly with no setup problems and no obvious disadvantages over using a router.
Computing is such a vast topic these days (and is still growing) so I can never hope to master anything - gone are the days when someone can be a "jack of all trades" in computing but I have accumulated a fair amount of knowledge over the years and am continueing to do so - and show my intention of this by volunteering to continue learning both at college and University.
I always welcome anybody who is willing to educate me on certain topics so please feel free - we can all learn something about some topic in the world (nobody knows everything!)
