OK David — it just seemed from "...I don't have the time or patience to complete it" that you had given up very quickly whereas now it seems you spent lots of time and so far achieved no success! Bad luck!
Maybe this info is significant: "...I insisted my ISP took the router back and gave me my normal cable modem back"? What router was it and how many others have you tried? Perhaps it was just a crap unit or, as a freebie, not having a lot of features or user-friendliness? It may be that our experiences (those expressed in this thread) are incomparable because we're not on cable and we use or have experience of completely different devices — too many unidentified variables here to comment any further ...
Returning to Paolo's problem:

The baffling thing is about IP.
Now my WAN IP is 81.174.44.195 whilst my LAN IP is 192.168.1.3 (I've to PCs connected to a router).
This error message is puzzling :
Response: 500 I won't open a connection to 192.168.1.3 (only to 81.174.44.195)
As I told above I can use FTP with other hosting service without problems.
Anyone knowing something ?

I don't normally use Filezilla but I made a point of using it to connect to an account on my Linux server, using the server's IP address as 'Host', with 'Username' being the account name and 'Password' being the account's regular password along with 'Port' being set as '21' — I connected as expected ...
Paolo, what you haven't stated anywhere is what hostname you used? You gave your WAN and LAN addresses and NEITHER are required for an FTP connection using Filezilla, or I have misunderstood your explanation?
Don't tell us in full the hostname or IP you used, or the accountname or password, not here in public — just please confirm that you are doing as I described in my use of Filezilla, or otherwise perhaps?
