It was more a curiousity thing than an actual need, as the Perl stuff on that website hosting can (and possibly is) using the CGI:Compress module for a form of GZip compression (though I gather mod_gzip is more effective). I blame the link to the YSlow firefox extension on these forums for getting me interested.
