what happened was we brought up a new trunk link in London. Instead of typing "switch trunk allowed vlan[list]" our network engineer added to a blank list the allowed vlans. This was on a physical interface that was up, and so it caused VLANs that were previously shut down because of no physical interface up that they were tagged on being up. These VLANs were historic config that should have been removed previously. The original mistake has been corrected and also the old configuration removed.
