Sorry to bring up an old topic again. My old username was helloworld, but I'm back as "hugh" now.
I agree with widget - I do think that lots of people would be interested. eUK wouldn't necessarily have to go completely eco. A start might be to offer a "green" plan, with a couple of servers powered by renewable sources, like solar panels. This would let eUK see the demand for green hosting.
@Eidolon - I'm not sure about the whole "carbon neutral" thing myself, it was just a neat phrase to use for the poll. What we really need to be thinking is how to reduce the electricity, so more power efficient servers (if they exist, not sure), and also how to get our electricity without producing CO2. There are data centers (won't give names, don't want to accidentally advertise opposition

) in America which have gone completely solar powered, and I think I remember reading in theregister that one German company had gone hydro powered using water from a nearby river.
@DPS - true, i think we all base our decisions on those criteria, but as eUK are already near the top (or at the top) for those things, it would also be an added bonus to have a renewable source of electricity for the servers. It's not all about what politicians can do, we all have to try and reduce our co2 output.
Thanks,
Hugh
