I would like to thank Matthew from Technical support for fixing the problems googlebot had in accessing islander. It wasn't possible to tell if he had fixed the problem whilst I was on live chat, so I'd like to confirm that he did - many thanks, and thanks for beleiving me that there was a problem.
Googlebot was being blocked at the firewall of the islander server for almost a week - quite a problem for someone who relies on it for web site hosting visits as the main source of business. No doubt this was done in error as part of efforts to cut traffic when the server was under attack just over a week ago, but maybe there is some way that Eukhost can make sure none of its staff inadvertently block the gbot again.
Cheers - and thanks for being available on livechat! I've a feeling this problem could have really hurt my business if I was still with my old host; they always replied to tickets with a 'no problem at our end' and closed them, so at least I could convince someone there was a problem!
