There were LOTS of tickets, none of them much use. This from dyndns:

this point, all you need to do is set your MX records to the proper
hosts, and you should be able to receive mail. Again, if they cannot or
will not make this change for you, you need to escalate to someone else
at their company that can provide this information.
You need to call them, tell them in no uncertain terms that you are
using third-party DNS, and that they need to provide the mailservers to you.

My solution is to host the email elsewhere and i am quite disappointed at the quality of service frankly.
the IP address (and i paid for extra for thi very reason) should have sufficed.
