I would do the same if I was there in your place but things always look easy from other end. We had similar problem with our
website hosting last year and we had no one to blame nor we could get on top of anyone as it was our job to sort the problem and 10 system admins together could not bring a single server back online in 24 hours.
I am not trying to give any excuse for this problem but this is something which was never predicted and we could never think of failure of plesk backup recovery.
