You can consider a VPS as you can customise firewall and security settings on a VPS as per your requirements. Shared hosting servers and Reseller hosting servers are soft targets of hackers as they manage to figure out number of websites hosted on a server using Reverse DNS tools.
Anyone would love to inject 1000 websites with their URL's as they expect huge traffic and backlinks from 1000+ injected websites. Your VPS or Semi-dedicated server won't be considered by them as they don't like to waste time on small servers with limited websites hosted on them.
