Hello
David,
I have answered all your questions as follows :-
1. What firewall solution is provided, if any? If shared, what provision is there for opening ports? What other options are there?
:- With Windows semi-dedicated server you will get the default Windows Firewall. You can open or block all ports as you would have Administrator privileges on your server. You can also install any third party firewall if you wish to. For Linux Server : We will install CSF firewall.
For Windows Server : If you choose Plesk control panel you will get default Mailenable firewall.
2. The following post (eukhost.com/forums/f29/where-i386-folder-6898/) details applications making changes to the System32 folder. I will need to install MailEnable for example which may or may not make changes to the files - what happens if an application does make a change?
:- For any assistance/information regarding system 32 folder changes, I would request you to get in touch with our VPS support department via our Helpdesk or Live Chat.
3. What antivirus measures are in place? In line with query 2 above if there are no antivirus measures in place then I cannot install my own antivirus either since there will be changes to the System32 files.
:- Anti virus solution is not provided with a Windows server as standard. You can opt for Dr. Web Anti Virus with Plesk control panel if you need one for your server. You can also install a third party antivirus software if you wish to. The only thing you will need to keep in mind is resource usage.
You can install a third party mail server software, however you will need to manage it on your own as we won't be able to provide support for a third party application.
The reason for having these email limits on all our plans is to avoid load on your server and thereby preventing possible downtime. So even if you use your own mail server, it won't make much of a difference. If you are planning to send emails more than the specified limit, I would suggest you to send them in batches rather than in one go.
4. Should we end up needed more disk space, can this be provisioned or would a move to a
dedicated server be required?
:- In that case, we recommend an upgrade to a dedicated server.
Please feel free to post if you have any more questions.
