While accessing the code editor from the cPanel, option Block pop up windows should be unchecked in the browser. I have tried accessing the code editor from cPanel and faced the same issue. Allowing pop up window worked for me.
Not sure how/what exactly you are trying to access the code editor. Try Allowing the pop up Window from the browser and check once.
