Default Server Uptime

I am concerned that the uptime reliability for server 64.38.20.134 has degraded over the past few months.

Although eukhost do not publish their own server uptime statistics I have subscribed to a third-party web monitor company since the end of October. The results indicate a worrying decline in reliability - and I wonder if there is any explanation for this.

ServiceUptime.com are one of the premiere on-line web monitoring companies. The technology seems sound. The tests are performed every 30 mins, simultaneously from several synchronised servers in separate locations around the world. A failure is only noted when more than one server fails to connect at the same time. The figures below indicate the number of test and failures for the last 3 months. The figures in brackets show number of occurences that 2 or more consecutive failures are recorded - i.e. indicative of repeated failure or single downtime of at least 30 mins.

November 2006: #Tests: 1452 # Failures: 1 (0)
December 2006: # Tests: 1492 # Failures: 9 (2)
January 2007**: # Tests: 774 # Failures: 22 (4)

The figures for January are more startling since there have only been 2 weeks elapsed so far.

Of course no-one expects a 100% uptime - that's not practical - but I would welcome your comments on the apparent trend.

regards
Chris.
