This is the reason users mostly prefer paid SSL certificates. If you choose a paid SSL certificate, you will be given a Warranty (can also be called as Insurance ). If a bug is found in the SSL certificate and you loose some amount of money due to this, the company will offer you Warranty i.e. Compensation

Whereas, if you consider a free SSL certificate, you won't get anything if a bug is found and you loose some amount of money due to the bug
