you cannot compare webmail service with yahoomail or gmail frontend. horde and squirrelmail are freely available webmail packages which cannot be compared with gmail or yahoo frontend.
I am quite sure that you might be traveling with a laptop so you should consider outlook. webmail is always slow as it eats up MySQL Server resources.
