I did something similar with ukReg.com and it took about the same time but it updated the NIC's 1 by 1.

DNS updates dont take any time this days. new domain registrations which we do get registered in 5 mins and most of the customers see their
website hostings online as soon as they signup. even nameservers updates take 1 - 2 hours only on our end.
