Keep making typos such as 'ghello' on my ADVENT K1501 laptop :S

I keep making typos like 'ghello', etc., on my new ADVENT K1501 laptop, I got a replacement as I thought it was the keyboard but pretty much the same problem. The keyboard layout seems pretty much the same as any other laptop so I don't know if its the way I type, but I've never had this problem with other laptops before. My friend tried typing and he made a few typos too :S. Any "advice" appreciated :tongue:

keys are normally a little smaller on laptops so they may just be "clumsy" errors if you get what I mean.

more careful typing? lol. I had my previous advent laptop for 6 months with no problems and had one before that for 3 years without any such problems.

I've used an ADVENT 9415 laptop before, without problems too. I'm disappointed that I may have to consider getting a different laptop as this is a good laptop to say the least. I've had previous keyboards and usually I get use to them after a few hours - I've had this one weeks with still the same type of typos happening.

How about an external keyboard? You can keep the laptop and solve the typos problem.

Yeah PC World staff suggested that, thought that was pretty stupid as that wipes the whole point of a laptop, being mobile.

After showing the store staff the typos I make, etc., they willingly replaced it for an ADVENT 9415 - and finally, able to type properly :hammering:

The 9415 laptop I have now is slightly less in specifications than the K1501 laptop and unfortunately doesn't have a webcam built in, but luckily I bought a Logitech webcam for my birthday and the laptop certainly is light weight.

I change around between so many laptops I think my hands have just got used to having to change to different layouts. Toshiba, HP, Apple, Sony, Acer (to name just a few) are all the different ones I come have to use pretty regualarly (usually to fix other peoples problems!). My main issue is finding where buttons like home, delete, end and insert are as they are usually the ones which I can't spot and end up pressing the wrong thing.

I find the placing of the function key a little annoying on my Fuji Siemens, especially when I'm not use to a function button at all (I'm a PC user!)!

I agree. My ADVENT laptop has the FN key first before the CTRL key but I've swiftly got use to that, and now I can't get use to the CTRL key being first on my desktop :hammering:

Another annoying thing is that to turn the Internet on with my 9415 laptop is FN + F10 - why can't they have a switch? :tongue:

I hate dektops. I like to be mobile - I like to be in the garden for an hour, living room for another - and upstairs later on. I would sacrifice power for mobility.

Glad that you got it all sorted in the end. Yes, I agree having the external keyboard would have taken away some of the mobility of the laptop but seemed the only viable option for your problem - im surprised PC World actually tried to help! - they normally don't (unless you pay the nice £30 "consulation" fee or you would like to buy EVEN MORE off them!).
