Default Re: Free Domain Contest

I have noticed a few members (I won't name and shame them), who are replying to very old forum topics to try and quickly get the posts required for the free domain contest.

Posting to very old topics will only get you an infraction, and not a free domain name.

As mentioned in the contest rules, posts must be of a "high-quality" - posting in very old topics will only deem your posts of a very low quality, as chances are, the topic is so outdated, that the information contained is pretty much useless.

Let this be a warning to you all.

Can I suggest maybe that a rule is added that only recent topics are included in the quality post counts?

Perhaps also add to that 'the creation of multiple new topics over a short period of time'.

I suggest you set something like "posting in threads created/ongoing within the last X months" which will get round the issues.

I don't think that making a good old thread live once again should be disallowed. some of our old threads have great information in them but we start new threads instead of using those and same things are repeated in new threads.

Schoolbag has reopened some good old threads though his intention was to get a domain name in short time. We cannot stop anyone from finding new ways to get free domain no matter how many rules we make. We can only hope to get some good members from this contest but expecting everything as per our likes is not justified

I suppose I can agree with that and I'm not saying disallowing opening old threads but opening them with little / no / nonsense posts is very annoying!!

I suppose we will just have to take the rough with the smooth on this one and just deal with things on a case by case basis.

yeah. You can see that topics of most of the new threads are similar to those which were started in past. It shows that we are not doing anything different on forum as same questions are being repeated and same story most of the times

We need something new which comes only from new members. If old members don't see anything new happening on forum then they may not stay here for long time. I hope you will know why you visit this forum so much and that will justify what I've said above

Oh yes I understand that! And I do think us "old" members do start some rather interesting topics as well lol .
