Who would own the domain and what would happen at renewal?

I beleive that it would expire or if I continued to post quality posts they would be more than happy to renew it! And you would own the domain!

The reason I ask is because EUKHOST arnt the first people to offer free domains.

I take one example a long while back of a ISP that gave you a free co.uk (freenetname) I think and all you had to do was dial in and use the service once a week I think for 5 minutes.

That was all well and good but the service was slow and the web hosting had no CGI and was liturally just HTML and Images no CGI etc. If and when you wanted to transfer the domain out to another hosting company you were hit with an "admin" fee of £120 a the domain wasent yours and always was owned by the ISP.

They then promply put the domain up for sale once your account was terminated and kept it registred for years afterwards.

Not saying that EUKHOST are at all dishonest but the terms and conditions are rather breif

The domain would be under your ownership and it will be free for the 1st year only. You will have to pay the applicable renewal fees after 1 year. You can use it with our web hosting or transfer it to another host and we won't charge you any "admin" fees for the domain transfer out to another company.

your domain name will be registered on your name and you are most welcome to take it away with you when you complete 30 quality posts.

surviving with one time meal would be a better option for us rather than choosing the dishonest route. your £120 cannot buy any peace of mind for anyone in world.

no matter if value of your domain gets as big as microsoft.com but we don't expect anything from you besides what you pay for our service.

No I wasent suggesting you were going to take that route but there is rarely suc a thing as a free meal and people ofen jump in without reading terms and conditions and then learn the hard way

Its all good though.

Wow, didn't know that this thread would get that many posts in one day! I detect a bit of forum spamming at around 4am today . I'm sure thats not the honest way to get a free domain? Posting "one liners" and repeating yourself every minute isn't really all that useful!!! And i'm sure that the posts couldn't be made within less than 10 days according to the T&Cs.

Anyways, it's up to you guys!!

Is there a charge for the transfer from you guys?

You know www.palkey.com offers absolutely free .com domains and hosting with a free registration for life! It's all free because they advertise ads on your site! Which the sponsers pay for your site! But you can't transfer the domain! It's registered under their name and everything! But it's your's for life!

Peace!

I was wondering! Say I registered a domain for 1 year and when the registration expired is someone able to purchase it?

there's no charge to release your domain name. you can get it transferred to any other registrar for free of cost.

you can get it transferred before it expires. if you don't renew it within 30 days after expiration then it goes in redemption period for 2 months and after that it will be auctioned. if no one bids for it then it will be available for you after 1 year of expiration date.

We do analyze all the posts of the members who contact us for the free domain and if some of their posts are not worth the quality, we do let them know the same.

I know, you do a fabulous job of keeping it all fair. It just seems silly how people try to blatently post rubbish or split one post into multiple different posts (like in this thread yesterday) posted within minutes of each other.

From my own experience of getting a free domain when I became an eUKhost customer, I'd like to add a proviso to this — although Mark didn't qualify what he meant by "...take it away with you" I believe that eUKhost will use Enom as the registrar and only eUKhost will be able to sanction release (which they WILL do quite happily if/when you request it)! However, if you wish to transfer the domain to another registrar of YOUR choice, please remember you won't be able to do it until 60 days after the original registration date. HTH?

The 60 day transfer restriction is a registry restriction, domains that are not yet 60-days old are not transferable between registrars. This is a registry rule, not a restriction instituted by eNom or any other domain registrar.

I'm with DPS on this one. There's too many people coming in here on the back of the 'free domain offer', posting total twaddle as pointed out above.

"Great site! Keep up the good work! Love you all! Not going to buy anything or contribute any thought provoking material but hey! Have! Another! Exclamation! Mark! Mark!"

But I guess it amuses me, and I'd love to be a fly in the server when they open a ticket asking for a free domain and get told that they have about, oh, zero qualifying posts.

By the way, does this count? (just kidding).
