Access emails from anywhere
Hi all,
I am looking for a email service where I can login from multiple devices (e.g. my pc, my mobile, my laptop etc...) and can see my multiple email accounts (morledge@, info@, sales@ etc...). I would want to see my inbox and sent items no matter which device sent the message.
My initial thought was to use something like MS Exchange but I do not want the cost of hosting an exchange server just for me. Are there any exchange only hosting packages that eUKHost offer or anyone else?
A key requirement to this is to be able to use a rich email client like outlook
Thanks

Hi Chris,
Using IMAP, you'd be able to achieve the goal
I see that you're using MailEnable V1.981 Standard edition as the mail server on your host, I'd recommend you to install the latest MailEnable V3 Professional or Enterprise Edition, they have the IMAP feature. More info can be found here
We're going to launch MS-Exchange hosting shortly... but no promises as of yet

If your using Outlook you can select the "Leave message on the server until I delete it" so you would see all the same messages on all devices, both sent and recieved until you delete it via one of these devices.
This is by no means ideal, but achieves what I think you want to do. Obviously the other way is to just use a webmail client but it won't offer the "richness" that you have requested from the e-mail solution that you want to use .

I currently do this but it does not give me access sent items (unless I BCC myself into all sent emails). It has worked so far though and I agree that this is most probably the simpilist solution. Thanks.

I had never looked into IMAP until now, I think this looks like a good option. I am going to research it a bit more and see what I find. Although it seems in the long run this seems more cost effective as I resell hosting to my clients from my Dedicated Server I could offer them IMAP accounts which should help cover the cost of MailEnable.
Thanks again to you both.

Use Google Apps. That gives you a gmail service on your chosen domain - including the gmail interface should you need it, IMAP or POP3 retrieval and gmails 6.3Gb mailboxes that don't affect your web hosting bandwidth/usage. I use google-apps for all of my domains. Google Apps

Have you checked out the free version? You can have 500 employees (or more even) on the free version.

I use mail2web.com - Pick Up Your Email
Just whack that into any browser on any PC, enter yer email address and password and away you go.
You can even use it from a PDA device or mobile phone.
I find it incredibly convienient.

It's good, well worth a look.
The only thing so far I have found it doesn't like are .gov.uk email addresses ( our work email network is based on Novell Groupwise ).
Does anyone know of an application that will allow you to access your .gov.uk email from anywhere?. Or is that not possible, perhaps due to security measures in place on government related website hostings and email?.

Hmmm, a tough one. I think you used to be able to access a secure webmail area for them in the past but I would imagine security surrounding sensetive government e-mail addresses would be pretty tight and will probably be restricted to only using it while at work.
Maybe someone else working in the government can shed some light on this?

It may be to do with the login details. I know for my .ac.uk account, I have to go into the advanced server settings on mail2web as my username and password aren't Jonathan.Crass or my full email address - it's a random series of letters and numbers so I have to enter it manually. It may be a similar setup to a corporate system.

Thats a good point actually - good thinking Jonathan . Its pretty much the same for my .ac.uk e-mail address - david.p.smith is just an alias of my original .ac.uk e-mail address and therefore my username is the original first part of the address.
