AES 256, how UK are you and SQL Server database size
Hi,
I'm very interested in your Windows package, because it seems to offer what we require.
However, I understand you offer a SSL Certificate for £39 including the Static IP address, what level of security does it offer, and does it offer AES 256?
I believe that you have UK based hosting, however I read somewhere that you back up outside of the E.U.? Is this correct? Being UK based is an advantage, however if information is going to go outside of Europe anyway then this diminishes the advantages of being UK based. Also how safe is information held on your servers?
The actual website that I am looking at hosting is relatively small, however the information on the SQL Server will be more. I cannot find any information on the size of the SQL Server databases, the level of access or security on this.
Is the SQL Server database included in your disk space?
Many thanks,
Ed.

Hi,
To answer one of my own questions, according to
..../web-hosting/kb/web-hosting/mssql-hosting on your site (won't let me post a URL because I have not had at least five posts)
Yes, the SQL Server allowance does come out of the hosting allowance.
Hope that helps anyone else who is looking.
Ed.

Hello Ed,
Welcome to eUKhost forum.
SSL certificate is now priced at £25.00 per year (SBS Instant Certificate) which is including the static IP address. SBS Instant is the cost effective, instantly available, starter certificate which is perfect for web site owners who mainly want to send information securely over the Web. The certificate offers AES 256. You can view complete information on SSL certificates we offer at eUKhost - Private SSL | Dedicated SSL Certificates
As far as our backup servers being outside of the E.U is concerned, we do that to achieve total redundancy. The back up servers which are in the USA would be on completely different networks. This gives us safety cover against a total network breakdown or any other unforeseen circumstance which can be avoided.
As with our hosting servers, even the backup servers have multiple security scripts & firewalls which secure and guarantee the safety of the data. I hope this addresses your concerns. Do let me know if you would like to have more information. We would be happy to share whatever we can with you.
SQL Server database is included in the disk space allocated to your account. On shared and reseller hosting, each SQL database size limit is set to 400 MB. With regards to access level, each and every user is unique on the server and only the database user has access to his/her database. No other user will have access to your database.

Many thanks.
I've checked around the Web and it appears that others process outside of the E.U. and the information is not critical, so it should be okay.
It states that you can have access to SQL Server Enterprise 2005 (for I understand from looking at it for £20 p.a. extra, which appears to be very reasonable). Would that allow SQL Mail and to be able to script backups?
Of course the other option for backups would be the Business Hosting, would an SSL Certificate also be £25 on that? I could not find it on the sign up pages. And could you also select SQL Server 2005 Enterprise and if so would there be an additional charge for that, and if so what would that be?
Thanks again, Ed.

Ans :- You can download backup of your database either from Plesk control panel or through MSSQL Enterprise Manager. We maintain daily backups of all databases hosted on our shared servers and weekly backup of your web data and emails.

Ans :- SSL Certificate will cost £25 per year and you will get 1 Dedicated IP free + free installation. You will need to proceed to the third stage of signup process as SSL Certificate option and MSSQL choice is available when you reach third stage or order wizard. let me know if you get stuck anywhere.

Thanks again.
On the Windows hosting the options for SSL and for SQL Server options appear, but this does not seem to be the case with Business hosting.
The Windows hosting would probably do anyway, but the 100% uptime guarantee with continuous backup is tempting. It is one of those cross your finger things, if anything went wrong and I had chosen the cheaper option it would not look good.

Dedicated IP comes free with the Business Hosting plan. I would suggest you to order SSL Certificate from eUKhost - Private SSL | Dedicated SSL Certificates as our technical team needs some information to generate your SSL Certificate and you can directly include that information if you place separate order for SSL Certificate.

Many thanks.
Dedicated IP (£20) and SSL (£25) are now showing on the options for Business Hosting.
However, there is still no option for SQL Server 2005 Enterprise. Now I would be quite happy for this to be included in business hosting, but it does not state what flavour of MS SQL it is on the business hosting.
Another quick question, I'm putting together the quote today for my manager, but he's not back in the office until Thursday so this is not urgent. But you state that the maximum size of a SQL Server database is 400mb, but it does not state in either the Business Hosting or the Windows Web Hosting (on that option I'm proposing the Gold package) how many databases you are allowed.
Currently there is only one online system envisaged, however if there are more databases possible it may be that other systems (not yet envisaged) could one day be hosted.
Thanks again.

Business hosting - Windows comes with SQL Server 2005 Enterprise as standard. There are no additional charges for Enterprise edition on Business hosting.
On Windows Gold plan, you are allowed to have up to 40 databases with each database size limit set to 400 MB while on Business hosting there is no limit on number and size of databases. The only restriction is the disk space allocated to Business plan.

Many thanks, I will be putting forward a proposal for Business Hosting from yourselves.
It may interest you that I should really be putting forwards a number of options, however since I require dedicated SSL (AES 256), SQL Server 2005, UK Hosting, not small or a startup and at least ASP 2.0 at the price level you offer you really are the only option. A competitor of yours said that hosting providers could not do dedicated IP addresses and therefore could only do Shared SSL, for a dedicated IP address I needed at least a Virtual Server. While other major players appear to still be offering SQL Server 2000 except on the more expensive packages.
So many thanks, and hopefully it will be signed off soon (it is within the project budget) and therefore it will be down to the purchasing department.
Thanks again.

I'm ready to purchase, and will be doing so later today.
Just one quick question.
The £25 SBS SSL Certificate is based on 1 domain only, e.g. www.whatever..... not info.whatever......
I haven't decided whether to put the secured bit on the main site or a sub-domain, does it make any diffference if I purchase the SSL certificate later when I have made up my mind?
Many thanks,
Regards,
Ed.

Hi Ed,
You can purchase the SSL Certificate once your shopping cart is installed and starts functioning. There's no need to order SSL certificate before activating your Shopping Cart.
