Default before we buy web hosting service

Hello

I have been running my website hosting and vbulletin forum on Yahoo Webhosting ( ) for just under a year.

My vbulletin forum hosting is SOOOO slow with too many timeouts to mention (I only have 200 members!!! ) and I also run Gallery2 website hosting and phpnuke web hosting - all of which make watching paint dry an optional pastime!!! After 8 support emails to Yahoo and not a single response, I think its maybe time for a host change.

So if I simply write here my wish list would you be kind enough to tell us whether we and our members can make a home with EUKhost please.....?

1) vbulletin forum - this should be the heart and soul of the web site hosting - at the moment we have endless timeouts and for some reason folks from BT Internet cant access the forum??? Are you browser friendly???? Will it run as smoothly as yours appears to do

2) I need a user friendly photo gallery where members can register themselves and upload their photos into their own albums - very important. Will I get this from Fantastico?????

3) I need a Review section where members can upload their own reviews (I can edit them before posting) - again Fantastico - will I need to use php nuke again? I do struggle with this

4) Ideally it would be great if there was only need for registration once - at the moment I have 3 sections and each require separate registration.

Quite simply I need to take our web site hosting to the next level. The performance with our current host means we are losing customers as it is sooooooo very slow. The web site hosting is very photo intensive too but I have unlimited space/bandwidth with them etc etc etc.

Added to this I have another website hosting (different subject) which I think I could use the phpbb forum you offer for -

1) Can I get help with the SQL Server dump / data transfer? This scares me
2) Can I use a separate domain for this? Will it be kept separate so never the twain shall meet?

Also I have a 3rd website hosting which I would like to use the same hosting plan for - it makes little sense paying for 3 hosting plans when I could put it all under the same banner methinks. Again - will this be separate from the other domains???

Apologies for the long post (especially as its my first) but this is so important to us and our members.

Thank you for any info you can offer us. Looking forward to hearing from you

Hi There!

Firstly, welcome to the forum and thanks for considering eUKhost for your web hosting requirements.

Once you move your website hosting and vBulletin forum to our web hosting servers, you will automatically notice the difference in terms of page loads and browsing speed. Your members will see huge difference in browsing speed on our web hosting servers as our web hosting servers are on a 100 Mbps network and the Datacenter has got 15 Gbps backbone from different Carriers.

Through Fantastico, you can install Coppermine Photo Gallery. Coppermine is image gallery system featuring categories and albums, thumbnails and intermediate size pics, search feature, new and random pictures, user management (private galleries, groups), user comments, e-cards feature and slideshow viewer.

For a reviews section on your website hosting, PHP-nuke will do the job. In case you need any assistance with it, our 24x7 support department is here to assist you with it.

You can host all your website hostings under one web hosting plan and each website hosting will be on a separate domain. Since you are looking to host a photo intensive website hosting along with a few others, I would recommend you VPS Hosting-hosting.php]buy VPS Hosting hosting. You can expect high quality performance on our VPS Hosting hosting servers as you get independent resources, complete access and the ability to customize it as per your needs.

Our VPS Hosting hardware nodes are all high configuration hardware machines. Our newest nodes come with E5420 Dual Physical Processors with multiple cores, 2x2x6 MB Cache and 12 GB RAM. This ensures that you get decent computing speeds at all times. You will also get Virtuozzo Power Panel which allows you to monitor and administer your virtual private server in the most efficient way.

You can view our Linux VPS Hosting hosting plans at VPS Hosting-hosting.php]VPS Hosting, also take a look at our cpanel web hosting plans. You can consider any of these 2 plans depending on your requirements for space and bandwidth.

We will also assist you with the website hosting data transfer. For that you will need to provide us the database backup in .sql format.

Please feel free to post if you have any more questions or you need any clarification.

Hi Ryan - thanks for the welcome and all the info. I'll take a look at the VPS Hosting hosting as well.....although I assume we can always upgrade later???

I have to say that your notes about browsing speed are of great interest - my members have really suffered of late and I would love nothing more than to be able to give them the forum / web site hosting they deserve.

I also like the sound of the support - I am pretty much self taught through trial, error, blood, sweat and tears.....and so to have support on hand would be fantastic for those moments of sheer frustration!!!!

Will be in touch asap ....... its late now so will pick up tomorrow (Thursday).

Thanks again...

Just a thought ...... but you can get both free and paid for gallery add-ons for vBulletin.

When we moved to eUKhost from cheap hosting ( vBulletin based) and noticed a vast improvement in page loading speeds and reliability.

Support did our transfer for us and it was flawless.

Our recent problems that we have had are seemingly because we are basically getting to ''big for our boots'' and are having to upgrade...but once again Support have helped all the way.

Hi freeneasy

I have just been advised by support that I need to load a new version of vbulletin to the eukhost servers - did you have to do this too.....???

There seems to be some confusion at the moment about what's happening - I have a headache!!!

Okay - so do you mean I just do a backup .sql dump and send this to you?

You can upload .sql backup of your database in your FTP space below public_html and inform our support team about location of the .sql backup. They will take care of restoring your vBulletin database. I'm not sure if you are using a very old version of vBulletin as there's no need upgrade until and unless your existing version supports php5 and mysql5.

save it anywhere, but not inside public_html or any other directory inside public_html. You can ask one of our livechat support staff to help you with uploading the .sql file using file manager in cpanel.

8 hours on and my forum is still not up and running. The last support chap had to go home - thats how long its been. They have been very patient....although saving the file into the public_html is where they told me to put it.

The chap told me to start yet another ticket about this - this has been going on since yesterday and I'm not sure what to do. He told me to get in touch with vbulletin about an error message when he restored the database - I asked for a copy of the error message to show them but was never given it so I've no idea what to say to them.

I'm getting nowhere with this.....a whole day I've spent on it and still no joy. I just dont know what to do next...please advise someone. I beginninng to think maybe I've made a mistake in changing........any advice gratefully received. Thanks

I did ask how to install the new vb forum via phpadmin as they said I couldnt access my new database in the ftp - which would be easiest of course. Unfortunately I never got an answer - I think it was shift change and I got passed onto someone else!!! I could weep!!!

Hi EUKHost -
Just to update you

I have the new vbulletin loaded nicely on the server.
The problem apparently is that the backup of the forum is not complete - it only goes up to the letter "p"!!!!!!
I have tried to do seperate backups of the missing data but no joy
I have therefore raised a ticket with Vbulletin to see if they can suggest why I cant do a full backup.
I am doing my backup in phpMyAdmin - they do recommend Telnet????? but that means nothing to me.

I would just like to say however that the guys at support have been excellent so far - I am sure they have a poster of me on the wall that they throw darts at!!!!!

I so hope to get this up and running today - its Saturday and a busy day for us and the forum is a heap where it is at the minute on my old host

The ticket is: [ #ALW-12751-385]

If your old Vbulletin is still running, I believe you can use 'IMPEX' from Vbulletin.com to transfer all the data from one board to the new board.

I think I'm going to have to cancel my plan unfortunately. This has now taken 3 days and I'm nowhere nearer to getting my forum up and running.

Apparently all that's left to do is get a complete backup for my database. I have tried over a dozen times today and its just not happening - it will not back up properly.

I have emailed Yahoo for a backup - but as I'm still waiting for a response to 8 emails sent since April 08 I'm not holding my breath to hear from them.

I have sent over my phpMyAdmin access codes to EUKHost support to see if they can do it - last email was.

Quote:
Hello,

The mysqli has been compiled on server now your web site hosting is showing DB error.
refer Screen shot for the error.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance.

Regards,
********
Support Team.
And that means what exactly? What happens now? So there's an error - how, why, what am i to do??

If I cant run my forum on this host then its no use to me.

I also sent a support ticket to vbulletin over 5 hours ago - nothing!

Its just obviosuly not meant to be. I am very disappointed that it doesnt work. I'll do anything I ha
