Dear ems123,
Just want to add my own two-pennies worth . . .
You have chosen well deciding to move to eUKHost and please don't let a few teething problems pursuade you otherwise.
It may take time but it will all be sorted to your satisfaction and you really will be glad you hung on in there please believe me.
I have been in your boots and know just how frustrating it can be.
The only real advice I can give you is to post in all your forums and let your members know exactly what you are doing and that you advise them that all will be back to normal soon.
You could also add that they will be more than happy with the increase in loading times once things are sorted but meanwhile ask for their understanding and above all, patience !
Good luck and have faith,
Jon

Whilst ignoring the person who seems to think I was griping at EUKhost and in turn asking that poster to wind his neck in and re-read my posts and note all the praise I have given to the support team - I would like to say this....

An enormous thank you to EUKHost support team for their patience, diligence and help in restoring our forum.

Their service has been the best that we have ever received and on behalf of all our members we are indebted to them for getting our forum up and running.

We shall definitely recommend this host based on the fantastic, friendly and helpful service we have received thus far - they have stuck with us the whole way. The support team are a credit to the company - Matthew, Nancy, Rick (who added the finishing touch and loaded each file for us - thanks again), Jason, Nick, Stuart, RonnieV, EUKhost on here!!, Vasco, TaylorR, Paul, Patrick and if I have missed anyone I sincerely apologise but thank you too...all of you have been wonderful - the best support team ever.

We really cant say enough about you - and we cant thank you enough either.

We would also like to thank freeneasy for his advice...thanks buddy for taking the time. - and MonteJon - appreciate your kind words my friend....you obviously know the frustration lol!!!!

In fact I'm even going to thank 247h poster - your grumpy post reminded me to think on what forums would be like without grumpy sods like you - thanks - I'm sure you're really very sweet! :0)

So once again THANKS TO YOU ALL....

You've been wonderful

Problem Solved

Default Forum Transfer

I have bumped this post because my question is somewhat relevant to the content of this thread and I didn't want to start a new one.

I understand that transfering phpbb DB from one persons web site hosting to another is do-able and depending on the versions of MySQL Server DB between sender and reciever, it is easy or slightly harder.

My question is this - If I transfer the DB to my website hosting, does my Bulletin Board take on the Board Structure of the old site, in other words if I leave my phpbb empty but installed, will I see a replica of the old site..

Ta.........

If you're referring to the styling, you'll have to copy the default phpBB software into the public_html directory and include the styles. Typically if your forum is in a subdirectory of public_html you can download that folder and it's contents to your computer, and transfer it back to your new web site hosting via FTP.

To use FTP you need an FTP client, I recommend FileZilla, which is available here. When you start FileZilla, at the top enter the domain of your new/old account and enter the username and password in the other fields. Then, from the right-hand side, select the public_html directory to proceed.

You may, however ask the support team to transfer the files from your old account to your new one and you can then restore your MySQL database from Backups in cPanel. When you restore your backup, after make sure you create a user corresponding to that database and put both the user and database together with full rights.
