Default Business Web Hosting

For your Business Web Hosting package you say "100% Uptime Guarantee is a REAL guarantee"

So suppose I host a client's site on one of these servers and there is a problem and his site is off-line for a certain amount of time and he loses £xxxx income.

Does the guarantee cover claims for his loss?

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

Business hosting will indeed give you 100% uptime, as we have implemented a server mirroring solution with the help of FAM and Rsync modules which allows the second server to take over the master server, if the master server fails for some reason.

We had launched Business Hosting a couple of years back and so far have had no problems with it whatsoever.

Out of interest, are these servers in different locations? I'm wondering what happens if there's a telecom failure, as opposed to a server failure.

If you would like to know the procedure of hosting a Business site, all you need to do is develop a website, get the hosting services from any hosting provider like EUK (depending on your requirements EUK members will be able to guide you with selecting the best suitable plan), wait for the activation of your account, start uploading the data onto the server after the account has been setup, also get an SSL Certificate for secure payment (EUK provides the SSL Certificates as well)..... and you are ready to host your website.

Once you choose a hosting provider, you will need to decide the OS that you wish to have on the server. If you use LAMP for developing your website, then Linux hosting would be best suitable for you.
If you intend to develop your site using ASP, FrontPage, ASP.NET environment, Windows Streaming Media, Access, MS SQL Server, or any of the other Microsoft’s owned technologies then you should opt for Windows hosting.

Incase, you haven't developed a website, you can ask eUK to provide you a Site Builder with a best suited plan. I think someone from eUK would be in a better position to explain you.

Hi Roger,

Clustering servers hosted in different locations is highly complicated and the cost involved with such setup would be quite high. We can provide such service to customers looking for Dedicated Servers, but these would be difficult on shared hosting platform.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Please don't take my post as a criticism of your service, I was just trying to understand your definition of 100% uptime. Clustered servers, redundant power supplies, backup power generation can all provide 100% server availability, but unless there is redundant telecom that becomes the weakest link and a builder with a pneumatic drill can destroy your 100% availability record.

A company I was contracting at sent the staff home to work for an afternoon not long ago. Remote Citrix Servers and dumb terminals in the office, and a construction company with a JCB shut down the building. Now what's all this about cloud computing???

Roger.

Hi Roger,

We have redundant Network as we have 2 separate uplinks going to London from 2 different routes and 1 uplink going to Manchester and then getting connected to US directly. We won't face any network problems even if something goes wrong with the Hub in London.
