Post Can you tick my boxes

Greetings

Having had a look at various hosting packages and reading many reviews of these hosting packages eUKhost has come out high in my list of possibilities. In fact I didn't find much about you at all that gave me any major cause for concern. So now I just need a few boxes ticked.

I already use a .org.uk domain that I would like to transfer, unfortunately said domain is registered by another isp, in their name not mine, I wish to know if transferring this domain over would create a problem and if not would said domain be registered in my name by yourselves. I am aware of issues where people discovered they had no legal right to domains despite using them for many years as they were registered to and by the hosting provider.

I may or may not wish to add a .co.uk to the package. I am led to believe that if I do piggy-backing the .org.uk and the .co.uk names on a single hosting package shouldn't be a problem. Please confirm.

Package I am looking at is your Gold one. My web-site is nothing out of this world and contains no fancy scripting but the 5gb storage is attractive as I have need to store at least 1gb or so of files. I may also want at some point to include a third party script (php or MySQL depending on the package I choose) to allow my guys to enter data for on-line processing. If possible support for a forum under our own control would be nice too though not absolutely necessary as we already have a forum hosted by a third party.

I know some of these questions are answered within your website hosting but please humour me, I am over 50 and like to be careful with my pennies.

Thanks in advance

Louie Maclennan

Hello!

eUKhost can assist you in trasferring domain names over from another ISP (providing that your current domain registrar permits your domain name to be transferred away from them).

The details found on your domain's WHOIS page will either be eUKhost's, or your information (you have the option to choose).

Were you looking at the linux gold package? Or the windows gold package?

Greets Thomas

Not overly bothered whether windows or linux, as long as it works.

My web site hosting used to be hosted on linux server but big company swallowed smaller company I was with a couple of years ago and shoved all smaller companies customers to Windows servers without so much as a by-your-leave. But to be honest as long as I can get the php/sql scripts up and running when it becomes necessary than I will be a happy bunny.

To explain I run a virtual airline and would like to have our own pilot reporting system using existing applications on our own space. Previous experience with similar packages hosted by third parties has proved difficult to disasterous.

Thanks for prompt reply

Louie

Hello Louie,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your interest in eUKhost services

You can initiate the transfer of your .org.uk domain to us at the time of package sign-up by selecting the option 'Transfer my existing domain" Once your domain is successfully transferred to us, you can then contact Nominet and ask them to update the domain registrant details in your own name. Nominet is the Registry for all domain names ending in .uk. You will also need to ask your current domain registrar to change the IPS tags of your domain name and make them point to “ENOM“.

You can host multiple domains on the Gold package. In this case .org.uk domain will be the primary domain name on your package and other domains can be hosted as addon domains. Addons domains are separate domains and can be added from cPanel.

Latest versions of PHP and MySQL are supported on the new servers which we are filling up right now. You can also host your own forum under the same package.

Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions, we will be glad to assist you.

Well I decided to use eUKhost but seem to have hit a small problem. No-one seems to be able to confirm a payment made directly into your bank 2 days ago. I send a scan of the receipt and get an email confirming receipt of such. 14 hours later I get an email re outstanding invoice and could I attend to it. 4 hours after that you send yet another email confirming receipt of receipt. Can no-one actually just check your bank account. I got onto live chat this morning and they informed me they had found the email (I'm not sure which email they were referring to) and to ignore the email re the outstanding invoice. Not a lot of help there, but I suspect language may have been an issue. I still don't know whether you have received payment or not. Surely it's not a difficult thing to find out. I know banks can be slow but I used the local branch of your own bank and paid by debit card (doesn't allow transaction on funds not available), this usually results in a speedy transaction which was my reason for doing it this way in the first place.

Receiving uneccessary emails doesn't bode well and I am unfortunately not the most patient of people when it comes to not receiving what I have paid for. If you don't have notification of payment tell me and I will create noise with the bank. If you do have notification please provide the services paid for before I decide to cancel the order altogether. I appreciate £70.00 may not constitute a large order in comparison to some but it is an order just the same.

Thank you
Louie Maclennan

PS I have to admit to being impressed with the way you dealt with "Jane" most business's would just have binned the post. Well done.

Oh dear, I'm sure that this issue will be sorted out with the greatest of speed. Has your account actually been opened and have you got the log in information for it? I assume not?

If so, I am a bit perplexed as to why support would say ignore the email invoice as this would imply that if you are to ignore the invoice then payment has been recieved which means that you would have your account information.

Have you got a current ticket open with support regarding this issue?
