Default Cheap Hosting for VBulletin Forum

Hi to all !
I am currently running [with a partner] a PHP2 Forum with 140 members which is part of a free set-up.
I anticipate that within a few months because of growing membership numbers, we will need to update and move to our own private host.
So, I am looking for a hosting package that can run a VBulletin [possible PHP3] forum for a minimum 400 members with growth anticipated to a max of 1000 members.
Can you suggest a suitable plan, finance is a problem because we will not allow any adverts but I am willing to self-finance provided it is not too expensive ?!
Thanks !
Jon

You can opt for a VPS hosting package which will be best suited for your forum. You can upgrade it to a Dedicated Server at any time when your forum grows. The VPS hosting package of eUKhost starts from £19 and it comes with lot of added features.

A shared linux hosting plan would be suitable seeing as your looking for a plan which isn't too costly.

Yes, I agree a shared Linux plan would probably meet your requirements and beyond. Don't forget that you can upgrade your plan at any time if you have further requirements.

To start off with the copper package (22.99/yr) will probably be enough and can be upgraded to another plan at any time.

I imagine the features of the copper package are far superior to what you are getting off a free host.

Hello Jon,

Copper or Bronze package would be enough to get you started with your forum. You can upgrade to a higher plan at anytime as per the growth of your forum.

Feel free to post if you have any further queries.

Many thanks to all !
Phew . . . You've certainly given us something to think about, I like the idea of the Bronze/Copper packages. We don't have many members using Linux, we tend to be a predominantly winows package.
However . . . Never say die ! I've long wanted to get to grips with a Linux OS but not yet taken the plunge, who know's, one day ?!
Thanks once again for all contributions, you've all gone to a lot of trouble and it's appreciated !
Jon

Don't forget, Windows packages that eUKhost offer include PHP & MySQL including other scripting languages like ASP.NET & MSSQL. So whether you require a Linux or Windows platform account for your phpBB based forum, it's up to you .

If you are looking for a Windows package, you can opt for Windows Copper or Windows Bronze package. Here's the link to our Windows shared packages http://www.eukhost.com/windows-web-hosting.php

Unless you require a windows package however, I suggest you get a linux package instead, as they are more reliable and have more features.

Yes, I second that - Go with a Linux package unless you need features like ASP.

Yeah, and that will be cost-effective too.

Thats another good point and also in general people seem to have a lot less problems with Linux - I personally can't think of any problems (apart from minor ones) that I have had on Linux.

Linux, Shared hosting. Silver.

That's my reccomendation. That way, you've plenty of space, and can expand to host more bits of a website than just a forum if you wish.

Hey Guys,

You all have suggested Jon so much, but where's Jon? Seems, he's disappeared !!!
Anyways, even I'd suggest him to go for a Linux Plan, since it would accomplish all his requirements. And Jon need not bother about the backend working of a Linux Box coz all eUKhost shared plans come with one of the best control panel, "cPanel " that is very user friendly and thus easy to use; you can refer to some of cPanel's Flash Tutorials at http://www.eukhost.com/support/cpanel.php .
Hope that's it Jon needs and would soon signup with eUKhost
