Question DotNetNuke Hosting

Hi,

I've search these forums for information however some seem to be quite old now so I just wanted to ask for some confirmation.

On the Windows Copper plan...
  1. DotNetNuke is fully supported?
  2. I get a full blown SQL Server DB, and not SQL Express?
  3. I can host DNN at the root of my site e.g www.mysite.com?
  4. I have full access to manage file/directory permissions myself?
  5. I can upgrade from Copper to Platinum at any time
  6. I can multiple domain pointing at the site without using a redirect e.g. mysite.com and mysite.co.uk and NOT mysite.com redirecting to mysite.co.uk

Also what control panel is used? The forum talk a lot about Plesk however in a quick chat is was mentioned as being DotNetPanel.

Sorry for all the question, I've just had a nightmare with another UK host with a Plesk panel that didn't work.

Thanks

Paul

Question

Hi,
With regards to point 6 in my original post, how do I set that up?

I have the domain I signed up for the account with .co.uk now I've added a new domain .com in the control panel but there seem no way to tell this domain what to do?

Am I missing something?

Hi Paul,

All you need to do is to add the your-domain.com domain as an Alias to the your-domain.co.uk from the control panel so that it points to the server & then follow the below mentioned steps to get the DNN portal display the same content for the your-domain.com domain as the your-domain.co.uk one.

I assume you've installed (or will install) DNN on your your-domain.co.uk domain.
  • Login to your DotNetNuke Portal [your-domain.co.uk] as the 'host' user.
  • Select 'Host | Portals' from the menu.
  • Click edit (the pencil image) beside the appropriate portal name.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Portal page where the portal aliases are listed, and click 'Add New HTTP Alias'.
  • Enter the domain name [your-domain.com] that should show up in your browser window.
You may want to repeat the steps above to add all the URLs that are used to reach your website

Let us know if you have any more queries.. Good luck !
