Default Hosting TeamSpeak

hi there we will be looking for a new web host very soon

so here is my question

we run a Gaming community and our current web host in his wisdom has decided to block the ports that we need to show or Teamspeak / server query block and this is a main feature to a Gaming website hosting to show who is on the server when you log on

so the question do you also block ports for this type of thing in your web hosting packages too and if not and we take a package with you will there be a guarantee that you wont

don't worry i asked the host were using now the same question and at the time he said no he wont block them but has since changed his mind

currently I'm running the block from my own home comp as a temp solution

Thanks for your time

Hello Dave,

We dont open any unwanted ports on our shared servers so our shared hosting plans wont work for you. You can opt for a VPS Hosting as you get a dedicated server for cost of a reseller plan and you can run as many applications you want with any port you wish to open on a VPS Hosting.

We are firm on our policies and we cannot open any additional ports on shared servers. We have started VPS Hosting plans just for customers who need custom settings alongwith all benefits of dedicated server.

thanks for the reply i see why everyone is blocking ports its just a shame that there is so many out there trying to ruin other peoples hard work

i looked at your VPS Hosting server option and we will consider this but to be honest looks like its more than we need were just a small community just a pity there is not a middle ground option but i will keep you in mind if we have to go down this route

another small question could we run a teamspak server from one of these VPS Hosting servers ?

as we pay for one of them just now and if we could that would save us that cost and would help towards a VPS Hosting if we had to go that way

Thanks again for your time

Your VPS Hosting is as good as a dedicated server and you can run your teamspeak application from the VPS Hosting. You dont get huge amount of RAM with a VPS Hosting sp make sure that your application wont run short of memory.

Hosting companies are not giving you any run around but recently it has become very difficult to run webhosting business due to security issues that have occured in last couple of months. Some major hosting companies from US are reloading all their servers as they were completely hacked. We want to take every possible step to keep close to 100% uptime for our customers and we donot wish to do anything silly that may spoil shape of this forum and our helpdesk.
