Default Looking to move hosts ...

Hi there .. my first post here so go easy on me ..!!

My current host is an absolute nightmare - dunno if I can name and shame them here, I want to with every fibre of my being, but I'll be calm - bah! Big robbing Euro host whose name begins with "L".

On Boxing Day, my website hosting lost all its connection to my mySQL databases. This had been an intermittent occurance for 2 years but I could live with that - kind of - but they never seemed to fix it. Well, on Boxing Day it gave up the ghost completely and since then - 2 and a half weeks now - I've had no connection to the databases and as a result, no website hosting as it was all dynamically created.

Well, they are still "investigating" the problem - which probably means they can't be bothered sorting it out. So not only do i have no website hosting - but am potentially losing business hand over fist .. do they care? Nope - they don't even bother replying to my emails now.

Anyway - I'm now looking to move host as I've had enough of it .. but haven't got the first clue how to do that. Looks like this seems a nice cosy place .. so anybody got any tips on what I need to do to move my domain over here?

Cheers

Hello.

So that I can provide you a little bit more information of what hosting package you should purchase, please can you let me know a little bit more about your requirement?

For small business and individual website hostings, I can suggest Linux Shared Hosting (http://www.eukhost.com/cpanel-web-hosting.php).

All shared hosting packages come with all the standard features of PHP, MySQL etc.

If you feel you will need to host more than one website hosting, then I can suggest you purchase a Linux Reseller Package. (http://www.eukhost.com/reseller-hosting.php).

Reseller hosting is just like Shared hosting, except you can create as many website hostings as you like, with their own individual control panel logins. This method is usually suitable for those who wish to resell webhosting, but can also be used if you have more than one website hosting that you need to host.

All hosting plans come with 99% garunteed uptime, with 24/7 live chat and email support.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello Jay,

All you have to do is sign up for the hosting plan of your choice. After that you have two options.

I. You just change the DNS for your domain name and have it where it is registered at the moment.

II. You transfer over the domain name to eukhost as well.

To be honest, the first one is the easier & faster way of having you setup here. I am guessing you are looking for a linux hosting plans. After you sign up with us, if its a shared hosting plan, your account would be setup in about 30 to 40 minutes. You would have to upload your files & off with your web hosting with us. The DNS propagation has to be allowed between 12 & 48 hours to take effect.

Let us know if you need more help.

Hi guys - thanks for the replies.

At the moment the web site hosting is relatively small with about 100 hits per day - so nothing massive - although there is a lot of content and have quite an active forum attached to it. I sell tickets online through Paypal for events that are run monthly and so need something steady and stable and there is only the one domain I need so don't need anything more than that.

Looking at the shared packages - it looks like Silver will fit everything in for now and still leave a bit for expansion purposes.

The main concern for me is, as mentioned, the actual move from one host to the other .. any downtime isn't an issue as my website hosting is a bit broke anyway at the moment due to the problems with my current host ..

To be honest, I don't know anything about messing with the DNS - never had any need to ... but if thats the easiest and most painless route for me to take then count me in .. .. hopefully someone could talk me through it.

I spoke with my current host today and asked them what I'd need to do and they said I'd need to unlock the domain, enter a new registrar through their control panel, email my host telling them what I'm doing and then they'll send me an authorisation code which I'd need to give to 'someone' (you guys?) .. and then wait upto 7 days for the switch to occur .. this sound about right or is that doing it the long way?

Look forward to your replies ..

Hello Jay,

Our Billing Team will keep you updated throughout the transfer process so there's absolutely nothing to be concerned. Most of the times transfers get completed within 24 hours so you wont see any downtime during transfer process.

Your domain name will resolve from either old host or our server during DNS change process. Please proceed and signup for the Silver plan, You can contact us over here if you need any assistance once you signup.
