Your current usage is negligible. Its sad to hear that other hosts failed to give good service with such low usage.

Forums with medium traffic hardly use any MySQL resources as the resources are only used when you have at least one new thread or post created every second. browsing of forum wont use any resources as update / delete queries are the only responsible queries for MySQL resource usage.

I myself have suffered some of these problems but they seem to have been datacenter connected, not just eUKhost problems. And if you are experiencing problems, you can request to be moved to a different node which is what I've done. All problems, completely sorted!

Where exactly did I say or even infer that they were exclusively eUKhost problems? As the VPS Hosting nodes at Blue Square seem to be supplied by more than one vendor and of course, if you include problems with any of the supporting network hardware, there are multitudinous possibilities for problems outside eUK's control. However I presume that eUKhost's nodes that they 'rent' are populated only by eUK customers? And historically it seems that the vast majority of VPS Hosting misbehaviour reported here has been caused by eUK's customers, node control software or disk sub-system problems, apart from the obvious lack of guaranteed RAM resources for many users. Plenty of potential for minefields in the future I suggest ...

I was merely outlining the cause of the problems to add clarification that the problems with the servers had not been caused by overloading of users. Thought it might be useful for this thread....

One customer of Jonathan was not able to receive emails and this problem had nothing to do with resources or Memory allocation. We tried everything possible to figure out why that customer was not able to receive emails but finally we had to move his VPS Hosting on a different node to fix this problem.

Look, obviously I'm unaware of the circumstances of your chat sessions etc but it seems to me that you have gone for a very non-standard approach — it's one thing to sign up a hosting account on a shared server and be able to access everything using FTP only, without the usefulness of cPanel at a premium BUT, unless you're fully conversant with setting up a server using an SSH client (i.e. a Linux expert), how on earth can you hope to manage a VPS Hosting???!!!

This is a virtual server, not some toy account! You've apparently thrown your dolls out of the pram because you've demanded something very non-standard and been disappointed by the responses of (probably) Level One tech support personnel who you've thrown into some confusion. I suggest that had you not been so radical, you would have found a working VPS Hosting without too much trouble ...

Mark has offered to assign someone senior to this which is sensible, but I suggest to you that frankly you're about to make a big can of worms for yourself unless you buy into a practical plan — that's what cPanel/WHM provides for inexperienced VPS Hosting owners — or are you really a Linux guru?

I can't imagine how one can sensibly expect to manage/run a VPS Hosting without a control panel of some description, unless you're a Linux guru or a total masochist (if you're one you're probably the other anyway)!

Those who run only applications prefer to work without cpanel but managing website hostings, databases, emails and other web based services will need cpanel and it makes no sense to waste 1 hour daily to configure things manually.

Sebastian has installed cpanel on his VPS Hosting so we need to wait till he manages to cool down.

Our shared hosting is best option for customers who need a simple control panel to manage their website hostings. All our shared cpanel servers have given more than 99.9% uptime in 2007 and it makes no sense in choosing complicated things like a plain linux VPS Hosting when you get so many features with a shared hosting plan.

Of course he needs cPanel with a VPS Hosting — he runs forums for starters — how does he think that all the associated email traffic will get delivered, for starters.

I think there's a clear misunderstanding of what a VPS Hosting is, that it has its very own Linux operating system and all the services that would otherwise be managed by a control panel (cPanel or an alternative) will be missing and require being set up the hard way.

He asked n number of questions before considering eUKhost but he never questioned anything about cPanel. How can someone Guess what you need if you don't ask ?
