Default MS SQL restrictions?

Which version of MS SQL Server is running on the servers for Windows Shared hosting and what are the restrictions (database size for instance) ?

I am somewhat an ASP.Net noobie, but am starting this week. A colleague of mine told me to check this out first.

Thanx (and i LOVE the chat functionality of your website btw),
Kiddy

Kiddy !

First I would like to thank you for considering eUKhost.com for your hosting requirements.

Currently we have MSSQL 2000 Enterprise on some of our windows servers and some servers have MSSQL 2005 Express Advanced version. by default your account will be setup on server with mssql 2005 express advanced version but if you need mssql 2000 enterprise then you can leave a comment in the comment box at the time of signup.

There's no separate limit for database size. You need to allocate the limits from your allocated quota. There's no restriction on number of databases or features as long as you stay in limits of allocated space and bandwidth.

Thanks for the welcome and the great smilie!

For the feedback i got so far, I'd like to give you guys a smilie back :

One last question though: I've worked with the express version in the past and i had some problems with the limited amount of connections (which was 1 if i recall correctly). When will this become a problem for my web applications?

GReets,
Kiddy

Our Windows System Admins have mentioned that our MSSQL Server allows multiple connections. not sure why your previous host restricted mssql connections on their server.

Well, seems flashkiddy must have got a free-hosting and so got this restriction as a complimentary on the same
Or the other thing is, he must have got the MSSQL on his local machine and not aware of the option to restrict/un-restrict the connections

Certain hosts may limit the MSSQL connections, as too many persistent connections may overload the server hence making a severe slowdown for all
And certainly there is & should be a difference between services provided by free hosting companies & professionals Anyways, I havent come across anything such as restricting connections from a local machines (ie: on client end).

Well Rock, I do agree with your point on limiting connections as too many persistent connections can cause load on the server. But just 1 connection is even more than too less, don't you think? And so I said, this could be a setting for only a free-hosting provider as they must be getting a hell bunch of customers a day, thus loading their server due to which the MSSQL connection usage is supposed to increase. I appreciate Your Professionalism Pride at the same time. And eUKhost as a whole, as a team, as professionals do deserve the appreciation!
Anyways, by MSSQL on local machine, I meant that he must have gotta test machine (server for him indeed) on which he must have installed MSSQL for testing and R&D purpose where the max connection variable must have been set to 1 and which he must not be aware of. I think either you mis-interpreted my statement or I must have lagged somewhere in my explanation.. Well FYI, I'm not a System Administrator like you, but I do have considerable knowledge about things
Well, I've re-edited the post just to wish you "Happy Systemadmin Day" Celebrate your day all you eUKhost team

LoL... People are judged by the work they do & not by the BIG tags they have under their names. Also, dont take it 'personally' but I'd recommend you to stop underestimating yourself 'atleast now'. You should feel proud that you are a Super System Administrator now. Congrats.
Hope you don't forget us (EUKHOST) in the long run of your life. All the best.

Anyways, we'll miss you in our TEAM !!!

Yeah, this was on my local machine. I was never aware that i could unrestrict the number of mssql connectections

This was a serious pain in the neck.

Thank you David!! Well, I'm good at making guesses and most of them come true even most of the times (as in case of this one)
