Arrow Multiple sites whilst keep one separate - which package?

Current Sites
1. A small online shop of the business I work for. Our retailer customers have the important sites for our sales, but we have a shop nevertheless.

2. A small html & javascript site

Combined bandwidth no more than 1GB

Proposed Sites

1. A small online shop - it's basically a way for a relative to make some money from their hobby.

2. Online shop for myself that will start once my hosting is set up.

3. Blogs for each of the shops.

---------

All this breaks down to:

Employer's site
Relatives' sites
My site/sites

----------

Linux hosting choices as I see them

Two or three shared cpanel packages

or

A reseller package

?

-----------------

I don't know how whois, IP address, etc work , but it's important for my privacy that my new site isn't associated with the others.

I am moving my domain registration away from the old host but no to eukhost - who I will solely for hosting. But I'm wondering if having all my domain registrations under one account somewhere, and also having all my hosting under one roof, one way or another will associate the sites? (even if hosting isn't an issue here, I would still welcome thoughts about registration and privacy, thanks)

-------

What do you think?

A Reseller Account would be a great start in my opinion. The only major difference between a shared and a reseller account is that you will have a reseller control panel (WHM with Linux) which will allow you to manage all accounts under one control panel.

Our Linux Reseller Hosting allows you to create unlimited accounts each with their own username-password and full cPanel access, this is great when you have multiple sites.

On a personal note, a reseller account will offer a more simplified way of managing different hosting accounts.

All accounts are hosted on a shared IP by default, however you can purchase dedicated IP's from us and have them assigned to your websites.

Coming on to the Domain part, you may transfer domain names to other domain registrars or you may change nameservers for your domain with your current registrar. Either option is fine.

I hope all the above information helps and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks!

Thanks

Domains in the shared hosting package are essentially subdomains, is that also the case with the reseller option?

Yes, both - Linux Shared and Linux Reseller hosting plans will allow you to add subdomains (test.domainnname.com) and addons (separate website like domainname.com). This can be done right from cPanel.

With our linux reseller web hosting, you can set up as many websites as you need and reallocate resources among those websites. These website when created as separate accounts will have their own control panel. While with a shared hosting account, all websites need to be managed from a single control panel.

But the new sites are subdomains?

Hi,

I'll put it this way -

With a linux shared hosting plan each account is assigned cPanel as the control panel. The control panel will allow you to add sub-domains and addon domains.

Sub-domains: A subdomain is a subsection of your website. The Sub-domain will use a prefix with the domain name like: prefix.mysite.com

Addon Domain: You have two domains mysite.com and myanothersite.com
Now you want the two domains to be totally separate websites. That's when you add it as an addon. Creating an addon domain gives you the ability to control multiple domains from a single account.

Coming on to a Linux reseller package, you as a reseller have the ability to create unlimited shared hosting accounts. These accounts have their own cPanel just like our shared hosting plans I explained above.

The bottom line is:

You can create sub-domains and addon domains with Linux shared hosting accounts and sub-domains, addons and separate shared accounts with Linux Reseller hosting accounts.

I hope that helps.

Thanks, I understand that, but I'm referring to this:

"Addon domains can be added to your hosting account as an upgrade. They allow you to have more than one independent website sharing the resources of your hosting account. Addon domains hosting is similar to virtualization. You can host multiple domains or multiple websites on a single account which are basically setup as sub domains on the main domain but the domains you add as a addon domain gets parked on top of the subdomain. "

What account is needed so that new domains are not 'parked on top of subdomains'?

You need a Reseller Hosting account for this. With a reseller hosting account, you can set up as many websites as you wish to and allocate the available resources among those websites. These websites when created as separate accounts will have individual control panel access.

So each control panel has one website which is not parked on a subdomain. In which case, that's really what I need.

How else might websites be associated with each other?

IP addresses, for example; unique addresses can be bought, but how does the shared IP address work - what information can be obtained be looking at someone's IP address... can they see which sites share that address?

Each website gets separate control panel access on a reseller account if created as separate accounts. You can buy dedicated IP addresses if you wish to.

No information about your account can be obtained by looking up the whois information of the shared IP address. Also no one would be able to see the sites which use the same shared IP address.

If I decide for the time being to just to use you to host my new site using a single cPanel account, how easy is it to upgrade to reseller later on?

Yes, EUK has always made it easier to Upgrade. You only have to pay the amount difference.

You can check the below link to know how does upgrade work.

You can indeed start off with a cPanel Hosting account for a single website and upgrade to a reseller account later on. Plan upgrades can be done as and when you wish to.

Thanks all,

I'm going to sign up for one cPanel account, for use with a new site, and then move existing domains over once I'm happy and I'm familiar with how things work.

That's absolutely fine. Do let us know if you need any assistance with your account after setup.

Hey, you can always upgrade. Most hosts allow that and change is fairly painless.

Indeed.... Upgrading is always fun, it's downgrading that'll do you in.
