Default PHP MySQL hosting package

Dear EUKHost,

For ages now I have been trying to find a replacement host for my website hostings as I need to renew in March. I was all set to sign up with NetPivotal (www. netpivotal.co.uk/) but then found you guys having not come across you on any other website hostings or searches. (The google search that you came near the top of was "hosted domains" by the way.)

Anyway, what you offer is amazing. In fact too good to be true. So what is the catch?

I am interested in the PHP MySQL Platinum package at only £70pa. The 10GB disk space is huge and there are unlimited (?) domains hosted (I need to host . maintaining fantastico and all the scripts must be tough. Compared to all the other companies I have come across this package is unreal.

Do you have any explanation as to how it is that you offer such a good deal, so as to put my mind at rest?

Also, questions about the PHP MySQL Platinum package:
1. Is there webmail? If so, what is it (am after IMP from HORDE)
2. am confused if this package has cPanel or Plesk, which is it?
3. is there shell access?
4. are there cron jobs available?
5. I see somewhere that the hosting I purchase might not be in the UK. Where else could it be then? Why is this the case?
6. From (5) - does this mean the servers are stuffed full and very busy?
7. How is the disk space spread across your servers?
8. What policy do you have on loading your servers?
9. Finally, each domain I host with you under this one package has its own website hosting and own control panel?

Sorry to be so pushy, but this is just so good and knocks the spots off other companies.

Thanks, Rob

1. Is there webmail? If so, what is it (am after IMP from HORDE)

There is SquirrelMail and Horde Webmail

2. am confused if this package has cPanel or Plesk, which is it?

Linux Hosting use cPanel, Windows Hosting use Plesk / Hosting Controller

3. is there shell access?

Not sure you can get shell with shared packages, try a VPS Hosting.

4. are there cron jobs available?

To my knowledge yes.

5. I see somewhere that the hosting I purchase might not be in the UK. Where else could it be then? Why is this the case?

eUKhost used to have and still have some servers in the US but as of this year all new accounts are created on UK servers.

6. From (5) - does this mean the servers are stuffed full and very busy?

The servers are not jam packed with accounts and server status's are stable There is very rarly a high load (can be caused by lots of SQL Server usage from all accounts on one server, like i said rarly happens.

7. How is the disk space spread across your servers?

eUK will have to cover that one.

8. What policy do you have on loading your servers?

Not sure what you mean by that but try here, http://www.eukhost.com/terms.php

9. Finally, each domain I host with you under this one package has its own website hosting and own control panel?

The unlimited domains allow you to "addon domains" - i think they are all controlled from one control panel, but have thier own "public_html" folder.

Hi Rob,

I have answered your questions below

1. Is there webmail? If so, what is it (am after IMP from HORDE)

Ans. We provide free webmail packages including SquirrelMail as well as Horde with all our web hosting packages.

2. am confused if this package has cPanel or Plesk, which is it?

Ans. All our linux shared hosting packages have cPanel, while windows shared packages have Hosting Controller.

3. is there shell access?

Ans. We have added a new UK based server which has been reserved for clients who need SSH Access and other disabled functions of php. If you wish to have SSH access, we can create your account on that server.

4. are there cron jobs available?

Ans. Yes, we do provide the support for cron jobs.

5. I see somewhere that the hosting I purchase might not be in the UK. Where else could it be then? Why is this the case?

Ans. We have a few of our servers in the US but since Jan 2006 we started filling servers in our London based facility. All the new accounts are created on our UK based servers.

6. From (5) - does this mean the servers are stuffed full and very busy?

Ans. Our servers are not stuffed full, We have limited no. of accounts on each server to ensure guaranteed uptime and no server overloading.

7. How is the disk space spread across your servers?

Ans. There are two hard drives SDA and SDB, SDB is used for backup while SDA is the main hard drive. The disk space is spread in various partitions. It has the / partition, /home partition and /var partition.

8. What policy do you have on loading your servers?

Ans. We have policies and monitoring process in place to ensure highest quality service with no downtime due to server overloading. We do not allow bandwidth intensive and website hostings which use up too much server resources on our shared servers.

9. Finally, each domain I host with you under this one package has its own website hosting and own control panel?

Ans. You can add multiple domains under one account using Addon domain function in cPanel. Sites under addon domains would be individual website hostings but share the same control panel. Addon domains will exist inside the public_html directory of your account with the folder name you choose for it upon creation.

Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
