Default Questions (Windows Shared)

Hello,

I am considering hosting my site with one of your Windows shared hosting packages. I have a few questions first though which I'm hoping you can answer for me.

1. I will need DNN installed and will need full access to the files so that I can replace them with customised versions that have been developed for me. Will this be ok, and will you install DNN on the server for me? Will I get my own unique install of DNN?

2. I understand that I will not be able to stream audio or video on the shared package. Would I be able to host my media content with divshare.com and embed their streaming players on my site? Are there any other options that you could suggest for streaming?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

There wont be any problems with DNN on a shared server. You will get your own unique install of DNN.

We do not allow to host streaming media content on a shared server. You will need to consider VPS , semi dedicated server or dedicated server for that.

I would have thought that would be fine if you embed the media on the site and host it externally. It would just be like a youtube video etc.

If you want to host it and stream it yourself then you would need a VPS or higher.

Yes, as far as I know, I believe Jonathan to be correct with this. As long as the actual multimedia is not stored on your account at eUKhost and is just linked to this should be fine. However if you want the media to be on your eUKhost account you would have to consider VPS, semi dedicated or dedicated as Jack suggested. However, do make sure that wherever you are storing the multimedia that you are allowed to do so and link to it from outside that site / account. For example most free web space providers would disallow this but sites such as YouTube encourage it .
