Default Server settings

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me the answer the following questions:

1. What is the value of the "max_questions" resource on the MySQL databases run by EUKHost?

2. On average how many web sites are hosted on a shared hosting server?

3. Is there any speed advantage in buying a more expensive hosting plan? i.e. does the gold hosting plan run faster than a bronze one or is the only difference in the size of disk and monthly bandwidth available?

4. Are the raw Apache log files available to download in NCSA format?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I have answered your questions below:-

1. What is the value of the "max_questions" resource on the MySQL databases run by EUKHost?
Ans: There are certain hosts which limit their users to a specific amount of queries to be executed, per hour, per user, through max_questions parameter in the MySQL configuration file. Once you have used up your 'that' set quota, you will begin to receive 'max_questions' errors until the end of the hour, ie until your quota is reset back.. Eukhost doesn't have any such limitations configured on the max_questions or 'number of queries to be executed per hour' through PHP/Mysql on our servers.

2. On average how many web sites are hosted on a shared hosting server?
Ans: We won't be able to disclose as this is against our privacy policy. We always make sure that 40% of the server resources are free.

3. Is there any speed advantage in buying a more expensive hosting plan? i.e. does the gold hosting plan run faster than a bronze one or is the only difference in the size of disk and monthly bandwidth available?
Ans: There won't be any difference in speed. Its only the difference in the size of disk and monthly bandwidth available

4. Are the raw Apache log files available to download in NCSA format?
Ans: Yes.

Please feel free to post if you have any questions

Thank you for that information and for your speedy response.

Please may I ask one more question?

1. If I buy a copper hosting plan and after a couple of months I find that my web site was more sucessful that I thought and want to upgrade do I have to wait until the copper hosting plan expires or can I upgrade to a silver plan straight away? If I can upgrade part way thought a plan does the service/money still remaining on the copper plan count towards the silver plan or do I have to pay for the entire amount of the silver plan?

Thank you in advance.

You can upgrade at any point of time. You will just need to pay the price difference for next higher plan.
