Default What kind of host do I need?

Hello eUKhost,

At the moment, I am thinking of changing from webhosts with my website hosting. I've got a vBulletin forum (with vBAdvanced homepage) running. It's got 35,000 members but "only" 60-100 users online at the same time (tons of visitors sign up for an account to download some of the unique things I've made but after that they leave). I've got some extra vBulletin add-ons (from vBulletin.org) installed like a shoutbox, arcade and some handy add-ons like statistics. Arcade isn't used that much but the shoutbox is. Besides that, I've got vBSEO installed.

Last month, I only used 40GB bandwidth and I'm not even using 500MB of webspace so that's not enormous.

With this information I was hoping you could tell me what kind of host I need if I would choose for eUKhost. If you need more information please tell me and I will provide it to you.

I hope to see a reply in this thread soon. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Jos Dofferhoff
The Netherlands

P.S. Please don't recommend a package of which you say it should be easy peasy but than afterwards, it's not working. Had that too many times before with webhosts. Thank you!

Hello Jos,

Best option would be our Dedicated Servers. Our servers are reasonably priced and you wont have any problems with your server no matter what other customers run on their hosting accounts with us. If you are looking for further growth for your forum in future then Dedicated Server will be best option for your requirement.

Many thanks for your quick reply eUKhost. The dedicated servers are looking good but are also kind of expensive for a web site hosting like mine. With hundreds or thousands of users online, it would be rather easy to pay the bills with advertisements like Google Ads. But since my website hosting only has 50-100 users online I would only get a small amount from ads to cover the bills. I don't have that amount of money to pay for the bills myself.

I was looking at the Semi-Dedicated plans. Are those not good enough to run my website hosting properly? It's still a lot of money for an individual person to pay but there's a big difference between Semi-Dedicated pricing and Dedicated (which is logical of course).

I have seen in vBullitin forum those who are having 500-1000 members and only 35 to 50 members online at a time consumes 15GB Bandwidth. You are offering some download to members which also consumes the bandwidth.

So I recommend you should go for Dedicated Hosting which gives you 2500 GB bandwidth and 160 GB Disk space & eUK Host costs only £79/month for it. By that you will get full access to your server, 100Mbps Dedicated Network, Free Software Updates and 24x7x365 days Ticket, Live Chat and Phone Support to resolve your problem.

It would seem to be logical to go for a dedicated server giving the data transfer of your site. You could start off on a semi-dedicated plan but you may find that you are pushing the limits of its capabilities and that you might not get great performance from your website hosting.

Hope that helps

Like I said, last month my website hosting consumed 40gb bandwidth. I've got tons of downloads on my website hosting but they are all hosted on a different server. Only files on the webhost where my website hosting is located are the vBulletin files.

You can consider Semi-Dedicated as well as there wont be any problem for vbulletin forum of size you have mentioned on any of our VPS Hosting or Semi-Dedicated plan. Dedicated Server is best option when you need 100% uptime but we assure minimum 99.95% uptime guarantee with our Semi-Dedicated server so you should not face any problem with semi-dedicated server as well, it doesn't mean that we will forcefully bring 0.05% downtime.

Get started with our Semi-Dedicated Server and once you manage to bring more growth for your forum then you can consider a Dedicated Server in future.

Ok, then I suggest you should go for eUK Hosts Customized Load Balanced Dedicated Server offered at reasonable cost.
