Question What's the chances in a smooth transfer?

Hello.

We currently have our hosting with Homepage Universe, on a reseller account, and have done for 11 months.

We have 21 domains listed, and after a little research on UK based hosting / server companies we have narrowed our new provider down to EUK and one other.

What we need to know is, how easy is it, or should we say, how smooth will it be to transfer all our websites, onto a reseller account with EUK? (Windows Advanced Package)

Will we see any down time? Aprox 7 of the sites use MySQL databases.

Our current hosting is due for renewal on or around 13/04/2008, so we want to move as quickly as possible without the need to pay another years subscription.

Your help and guidance is appreciated.

You will need to upload all your data on our servers and then restore all your databases one by one from plesk control panel. plesk allows you to check your website with a temporary URL before you change your nameservers so you should verify working of all your websites using temporary URL.

Once you find everything work as per your expectations then you can proceed with nameserver changes. You will get 2 pairs of nameservers and you can choose either our nameservers from those or you can register your private nameservers and point all your domains to your private nameservers.

Thanks for your reply.

What are the differences between your nameservers of our 'private' nameservers?

The Public nameservers act as authoritative nameservers for domain names that reside in our DNS servers and you manage through the customer portal. The authoritative servers "answer" and "resolve" domain names to your IP address for the general internet population.

ns2.eukhost.com 91.186.0.6

The resolving nameservers located on the private network act as DNS resolvers for your server. For example, sending mail from your server requires an NSlookup of the destination domain name. The private DNS servers resolve this information over the private network to keep your bandwidth usage down, reduce the load on the authoritative servers, and offer quick resolution. The private resolvers slave from our public nameservers so they are always up to date. This is a convenience service for our customers.
