Default Windows VPS & Backup Service

Hi,

I currently have a windows VPS with you. Please could you answer the below questions on the Backup Service you offer

I know virtuozzo can do a full system backup but could you setup a daily backup of the entire configuration of our VPS including Virtuozzo, Plesk, IIS configurations and my site files? This backup would need to be stored off my server so incase the worst happened, everything could be restored.

What size would my VPS Backup be? Would it be the full amount of the disk space used (currently 2.8GB), as reported in Virtuozzo. Does this mean each backup would be 2.8GB if I had rolling backup system which would keep 7 days worth of backups. Or would my total backup size be 2.8GB as one constantly updated backup?

Does my FTP access to the backup allow me to upload other files for backup?

How secure is the backup area, how sure am I that if I upload some of my files (e.g. financial backups) that no-one (inc. eUKHost) would read them?

Thanks
Morledge

I know all backups are done offsite with encrypted transfer so that wouldn't be a problem. Aside from that, you will need someone with more knowledge of this service to answer your remaining questions. If you haven't already seen this, the general outline can be found at http://www.eukhost.com/backup.php.

Weekly Windows VPS backups are taken. If you need them more often then you'll have to purchase one of our backup packages.

We make full backup of all our shared, reseller and vps hosting servers twice a week. One is executed on Wednesday night and other on Saturday night. Users are not allowed to access this backup as we have allowed our office IP only to access this backup servers and backup servers are allowed to access respective servers to fetch backups.

If you need any custom backup plan then you can consider one of our backup plans which are advertised on http://www.eukhost.com/backup.php

Thanks,

Just to clarify, this full back of my VPS which happens twice weekly is enough to restore my VPS including all configurations (IIS, Plesk, Virtuozzo etc..) and site files. So if the worst did happen and I needed to be moved onto a new VPS, eUKHost could restore everything for me.

Thanks

Yep. Incase something goes wrong then your VPS will be restored with Wednesday or Saturday backup within 1 - 2 hours.

If you messup something and you need backup restored then you will need to pay £15 for restore. If something goes wrong with the server then we restore backup for no cost.

Quick question please.

I note that euKHost 'make full backup of all our shared, reseller and vps hosting servers twice a week.'

Are there any advantages to the 'custom backup plans' other than the ability to backup more frequently?

Thanks in anticipation.

Chris

Yes, do not have to pay for any restores. And you are always sure that you have latest/multiple copy of your data.

Hi Chris,

With our Custom Backup plans, you will have SSH access as well as FTP access to your backup space which will allow you to upload / download your data manually from your end as well as automate backups of any of your hosting accounts hosted anywhere.

If you wish to maintain a separate backup space on a remote server where you can connect through FTP and we can setup rsync mirroring then you should consider our Offsite Data Backup Service.

We setup daily, weekly & monthly rsync crons to copy backup of accounts on backup space. This service is an addon service and backup service included in the hosting plans is not compromised.

Hello Chris,

offsite backup plan will give you full control of your remote backup space. You will be able to keep a track of all data getting copied in your backup space and you will get daily notifications on completion of backup. we take every possible precaution to ensure 100% backup twice in a week but you can consider additional paid backup space to get full control in your hands.

The real question is just how much security and reliability you want on your backups and the ease of access to them. Although the standard backup is a very high service the additional backup plan just adds that extra safe guard and slightly more reassurance as well as greater control over your backups and their schedule - obviously businesses and other websites containing information which can't be lost or would be very hard to replace would go for the custom backup plan.

Hope that helps .

Yep, But on a safer side you should have additional backup space so that it will help to take daily backup as well reduce the expense for restoring backup, if something goes wrong. You have to pay additional for backup restore, against that 2 GB additional backup space cost £12 only.

So I think it is worth to take additional backup

Default Clarification Please

Terms used in above emails include 'custom backup plans', additional backup & offsite backup.

Looking at the Eukhost backup page it just seems to be offering additional levels of backup capacity.

How do I purchase a custom backup plan that allows me to choose the frequency of backup etc etc etc?

Thanks in anticipation.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Once you order one of our backup plans, you can contact our support team and ask them to customize backup schedule for your account. As you get full control over your backup space and backup schedule is made as per your requirements so there wont be any chance for anything to go wrong. You will receive daily email notifications on completion of backup.
