Default FTP client?

(Might be worth having a 'general' forum in the support category)

A somewhat weird FTP error I've noticed periodically happens often lasting a day on one of my website hostings is as follows...
Quote:
Status: Connecting to ftp.site.com ...
Status: Connected with ftp.site.com. Waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [TLS] ----------
Response: 220-You are user number 3 of 50 allowed.
Response: 220-Local time is now 10:14. Server port: 21.
Response: 220-IPv6 connections are also welcome on this server.
Response: 220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Command: USER username
Response: 331 User username OK. Password required
Command: PASS ********
Response: 230-User username has group access to: username
Response: 230 OK. Current restricted directory is /
Command: SYST
Response: 215 UNIX Type: L8
Command: FEAT
Response: 211-Extensions supported:
Response: EPRT
Response: IDLE
Response: MDTM
Response: SIZE
Response: REST STREAM
Response: MLST type*;size*;sizd*;modify*;UNIX.mode*;UNIX.uid*;UNI X.gid*;unique*;
Response: MLSD
Response: ESTP
Response: PASV
Response: EPSV
Response: SPSV
Response: ESTA
Response: AUTH TLS
Response: PBSZ
Response: PROT
Response: 211 End.
Status: Connected
Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Command: PWD
Response: 257 "/" is your current location
Command: TYPE A
Response: 200 TYPE is now ASCII
Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (87,117,200,71,101,72)
Command: LIST
Error: Transfer channel can't be opened. Reason: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing
Command: TYPE I
For reference the above was the command line info from my FTP client, with bits modified for general privacy. The problem bit occurs when the FTP attempts to LIST, which I believe is generating the folder list. I've had a contact in the US attempt to connect to FTP when this is occurring at my end and the same thing occurs. Interestingly my other website hosting which I believe is on a different server is unaffected and connects fine.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, and is their a solution for getting it working?

Which FTP software do you use ?

I have WS FTP Pro and I don't see any such errors with test account on your server.

I tend to use Filezilla, and most of the time it connects to the website hosting fine without any problems. It's odd as I've just tested with WS FTP Pro and it connects fine + loads directory structure, whereas it currently isn't loading the direcrory structure with Filezilla.

I can't work out why the problem only seems to occur periodically, and that it isn't just myself that experiences this problem when connecting to the website hosting.

Just to quote from the person who connects from the USA...
[19:43] iBG7W: firewall has nvr been an issue for me - i just use a router.

Open a ticket from http://support.eukhost.com and mention in subject field "Attn :: Jack / Nick". They will look into it as soon as you open the ticket.

I would have sorted it for you if that was of my level.

I would open a ticket, however the FTP is working fine this morning, as of 7am. I'll wait until it reoccurs (if it does) and open a ticket then.

Also mention the exact time when you face the problem as the person who will start working will do so after 10 - 15 mins so he will need to see the logs 10 - 15 mins old and exact time will help him to figure out the problem.
