Default Moving a web site

Hi,

I am currently moving web sites over to eUKHost, one web site hosting has an smf forum with a combined coppermine gallery, is it possible to move it all intact? It isnt a very busy forum etc, just some guys I know who wanted a small web site hosting for their angling club.

If they are hosted on a cPanel account then all data can be transferred over without any loss, and once everything has been setup here you can then change your dns servers over - that would mean that you've migrated with zero downtime!

If you're hosted on a Windows account then there isn't any utility at this time which will do the automatic migration.

Well, that would be much better than me attempting it. (If I fry their forum once more, am sure I will be used as biat for the next angling trip).

Thanks for the quick answers guys!

Don't be chicken!

If your SMF/Coppermine combination is same as mine then they share the same database (for a common login) so in effect, it's even easier to move than two separate databases ...

Transferring your complete accounts is easy for someone with root access at this end — you didn't say whether you're on shared hosting solution, VPS Hosting or dedicated server? If the first, you can't complete your mission easily so open a ticket to Tech Support providing them with logins for all the remote accounts. If you're having a VPS Hosting or dedicated server it's easy to FTP to the remote server to retrieve a Home Directory backup of each account and install on your new server, complete and intact (including emails, stats, everything).

"cluck cluck"

Tech support swung into action and moved one web site hosting over for me last night.

Moving data bases is something I would like to try, but I would like to try it on a non essential data base first, I actually had no idea that it could be done before yesterday, just goes to show that even us chickens learn something new occasionally.
