Really not impressed so far
So after much deliberation, surfing, sending test support tickets and generally trying not to pick yet another awful webhost, I decided to sign up with Eukhost for a VPS Hosting package (the middle sized one).
Despite the chaps in the sales department ensuring me it would only take half an hour to set up my VPS Hosting, I had to chase them three times and it was finally up and running about 12 hours later.
Then I was sent the wrong signup email (Windows instead of Linux) with the wrong nameservers listed in it.
Then when I finally did log in to my Virtuozzo, I had been given the basic 15gb package rather than the 30gb one I paid for.
Then, three times now my VPS Hosting has disappeared (I can't ping it) for hours at a time, and only reappears when I open a live chat and ask them to restart it.
I spent literally a whole day yesterday migrating 26 client website hostings onto my VPS Hosting and after two days my experience is that it's totally unstable - I'm not feeling very confident. I know I can get my money back but that's not the point - I don't think I'm paying for *budget hosting* yet it seems the product just isn't very high quality?
I will say the support staff are always there and very polite, but I'd rather just set up my website hosting and never have need to contact them if you see what I mean?
Why is webhosting made to look so difficult? Why is it so hard to find a good one?

Hello,
I understand your frustrations and I can honestly say eUKhost would be the best option for you. If you would like to contact a senior technician via e-mail ( VPS Hosting@eukhost.com) and ask for a senior tech to respond, I am sure it will be resolved within due course time. Sometimes VPS Hosting' will take up to 24 hours to be setup for you but I can reassure you that upon notifying the team of the problem you are facing, they'll be on it to sort it out for you. If you have any doubts, you may contact the Quality Assurance Manager at nick@eukhost.com. I can safely say eUKhost is here to keep client satisfaction & quality service and has taken steps to ensure that this remains part of their service.

Thanks Ben. It just seems a bit odd that the first time my VPS Hosting was unreachable, I spoke to a LiveChat person and they brought it back - I asked what had happened and they replied it was a problem with iptables. The most recent time, the operative claimed to have just restarted VPS Hosting, and insisted I could have done it myself - obviously it's hard to get to Virtuozzo when you can't reach it's IP!!
The next time it happens I'll submit a tech support ticket to try and get to the bottom of it, if there's no resolution I'll just have to cancel and go elsewhere.
I really don't want to be a "problem customer", I just want a quiet and easy life!

Hello Alex,
Setup process of a VPS Hosting and a Dedicated Server is quite similar. Almost every customer looses some time initially in getting his VPS Hosting properly configured. As needs differ so we cannot make a single template for all VPS Hosting's as customers prefer to have different services running on their VPS Hosting as per their requirement.
I can assure you that you wont face any problem with your VPS Hosting once the setup process gets completed. First it was due to iptables rules which has been sorted now so hopefully you wont face any problem now.
Reseller and Shared hosting accounts are setup on preconfigured servers so customers don't loose any time on those but VPS Hosting, Semi-Dedicated and Dedicated Servers need your time initially to have perfect settings as per your requirement.

Thanks for the words of reassurance - I understand a VPS Hosting might take more tweaking, so I'll be more patient!
I must say I do absolutely love Plesk and Virtuozzo - got used to them at work and there's no way I could go back to cPanel!

Pings and tracerts for me here. Are you sure that its not just your IP getting blocked by the firewall for some reason or another - I had that happen to me a few weeks back because of a misconfigured firewall.

A livechat person just restarted psa which is probably why it's tracert for you (thanks for checking though!).
Yes, something like a firewall setting is wrong here, but it's odd how it keeps resetting back to blocking me if that's the case. I've submitted a ticket through the proper channels so hopefully the tech guys can get to the bottom of it.

Hi Alexander,
We really apologize for all the inconvenience caused.
I have checked your VPS Hosting and unable to find any problems for the service failure. We can provide you a fresh new VPS Hosting on Newly setup server (with new IP's) and you can test it for 2-3 day. If the new VPS Hosting performs as per your needs you can keep the new one instead of current VPS Hosting.

Well I've just come back in after being out all evening and surprise surprise, it's down again.
This simply cannot continue.
If you set up a new VPS Hosting are you able to transfer all my domains and data across for me?

Hi Alexander,
I had a problem with the VPS Hosting and email issues a few weeks back. There had been trouble on it ever since I got it set up so I went for a migration. Tech support did the full migration for me which meant there were only a few tweaks I needed to apply once I was on the new one.
To prevent any chance of data loss (particularly emails), I got support to take the old VPS Hosting offline, change the A records on it to point to the new VPS Hosting, transfer all the data across, bring the new VPS Hosting online and then bring the old VPS Hosting up to allow everything to go to the new VPS Hosting without having to wait for propogation. I then changed the nameserver IPs (you may or may not need to do this depending on your situation) and that was that. Now, the total downtime here was 2 hours (will depend on how much data there is to migrate) and then everything was fully propogated in under 24. All I had to do for the migration was to tell support to go ahead, modify the nameserver IPs and then tell support which tweaks were needed! So minimum effort on my behalf.
Since this migration, I've had no further problems so it just seemed to be bad luck with the VPS Hosting I got initially. Support have been there as well to help apply the tweaks and customise the VPS Hosting. I can't praise them enough!
Hope this is some help to you. I can safely say eUKhost are a damn amazing host. Other companies would just turn round and pretty much go "tough luck" !

Thanks, I can confirm I can login to the new VPS Hosting - can you let me know that you're moving my data across to it?

They will start migrating the data once you tell them to do it via support ticket. You may just be able to reply to an email ticket regarding this.

The quickest way to get a response about that is to pop onto the livechat system which you can find on the main eUKhost website hosting. Select VPS Hosting Support and then they should be able to tell you what's going on.
