Hi,

I just wondered if your Linux shared hosting packages come with Smarty templating ?

I believe the shared hosting packages to have the same or simular PHP setup as the VPS Hosting PHP setups if unmodified.

You can view a PHP info document at http://www.trwilliams.net/phpinfo.php - this will probably give you a good idea of what's available.

Thanks Thomas, but I don't think you can tell if the servers support Smarty from phpinfo.

Smarty isn't compiled into php or anything like that.

Smarty templates are "compiled" into php code which is run like any other php code. Php wouldn't know (or care) that it was running Smarty code ...

It will work on VPS Hosting or Dedicated servers. As of now we have not included smarty templating on any of our shared servers. I will do some sort of investigation to figure out if we can include it on shared servers as well.

However, there are other templating tools included in Fantastico on shared Linux cPanel servers such as Templates Express and Pro Edition (site builder).

No problem, you should find them quite useful. I have only personally used Templates Express before but you have a few choices on templates and you are able to choose a directory to install it to. Then you can edit the template to suit your needs, just like a normal webpage.
