Is ssh / telnet access available with a linux shared hosting account ?

This facility this seems to be disabled in my control panel.

Is it possible to get it enabled ?

We will need to move your account on one of our servers which support SSH access. You will need to contact our support team from http://support.eukhost.com and ask them to move your account on a server which has SSH access enabled. We dont charge anything extra for SSH access.

Are there any downsides to moving my account to an SSH server ?

ie might it be a slower server or am I likely to have to re-apply any of my account configuration eg mailing lists, file permissions, domain re-directs etc ?
