Default straight answer please?

ok,

just been on the livechat and received my first unhelpfull response after a great response yesterday, this morning and with Mark

ive upgraded to a semi-dedicated server - earlier today - payment was confirmed via livechat by Mark, and i was told the server would be up in between 2-3 hours depending on the amount of data on the server - fine not a problem i think, theres only around 5-8 gig of real data on there

well - over 9 hours on ive just got off the live chat (sorry if ive offended you) feeling well and truly fobbed off!

i got told 1 hour and it would be online at 5, fair enough - then asked at 6, was told the same so went to the supermarket - did the food shopping, asked on return at about 7:20 and again another hour, waited till about 8:20ish was told i would be receiving the logins in a couple mins, guess what??? yep still not arrived

I understand these issues occur in it - but currently im on tenterhooks as per my current VPS Hosting running out of swap again (bad script i know - im rewriting it as well

All i really want is realistic timescales - rather than the bull i feel ive been getting

Hello Nathan,

Making package of 8GB data during Business hours or evening hours takes some time and transfer of 8GB data from one server to other server takes additional time. please be patient as transfer will be completed tonight. I am communicating with our VPS Hosting team and they are working on migration of your VPS Hosting. we cannot give any ETA for such migrations as package creation time and migration time depends on the current CPU load of the old and new node.

finally a reply that i can agree with,

what i dont however understand mark - and just something you may want to look into, why wasnt this instructed to me earlier today - which would have been totally acceptable?

also when on the live chat - why did they keep putting me off for hours on end, an hour at a time?

if i was told this would be migrated overnight, all id have asked would be for a quick check to ensure my main web site hosting is alive every 20-30 mins or so and reboot the VPS Hosting as necessary until its all live!

this would have saved me the stress and agro of talking to someone who did not appear (to me anyway) to have a clue what was going on and just trying to buy time.

can you confirm it will be on the semi-dedicated server tommorrow morning for me mark?

oh and on a quick check its about 2g of website hosting files + databases and config - rest of disk usage must be swap shreddage

They said so as they were working on migration of your VPS Hosting. If they were not working on it then they would have asked you to check later at night. try and understand that they are humans and migrations face problems if load of the server increases. We need to take care of our uptime guarantee migrations are abandoned if we see load spike while packaging your data.

TBH, I'm with Nate. If a timescale is given, it should be attainable and be a maximum. To do otherwise, however laudable the motives, does not do any company any favours.

Of course, beating the realistic timescale earns brownie points.

PS Just got my work to sign up with you...am I too late for the affiliate program?

Nathan is our premium customer and we got everything sorted last month, though there was some delay in migration. No one can give perfect ETA for migration related tasks as migration in business hours completely depends on how the servers responds to load created by tar and gzip processes.

You are most welcome to join our affiliate program, however our affiliate program is useful only if you get someone else to signup as you wont get affiliate commission if you signup for a hosting account for your requirements
