Default Links in the Forum

Recently there were a few updates made to the forum, one of them being now if you post a link, the title tag is used automatically for that link. Even if you go in to change the text used for the link manually, the thing over rules it and disregards what you've put.

Can we go back to what we had with just entering links normally as it's getting really irritating when you want to post something, particularly from the eUK web site hosting as the title tag is so long and often irrelevant to what you're trying to say!?!?

Cool

You're right Jon.. it's quite irritating when the text we intend to let others know is shown as something completely different

But I hope/doubt this drastic change done by vBulletin is to keep the bots/spiders/spams/crawlers/ etc etc non-human objects away from the original links :

Simplest example = http:// domain.com gives this text : Register a Domain, Find Hosting and Create aWebsite Hosting at Domain.com

I think this may be a marketing/advertising strategy implemented by vBulletin... nice thinking of generate revenues in a righto way...

anyways.. I'd go with 'YES' for the poll.. anytime... I love the newer/updated vBulletin without this rather 'unwanted feature...'

I'm not sure this is a standard in built feature.... I've just used a demo account on the VBulletin web site hosting which runs the same version as here and the links just showed as normal...

I think is a forum settings to pick up the Title of the page in the link. It is more of a Search Engine Optimization strategy I suppose.

Yeah, but it's bloody irritating! I wanted to try and post the link of your support section so people could access it, but instead you get this: eUKhost Helpdesk :: Shared Reseller VPS Hosting Dedicated Server Hosting Support. Not very helpful for remembering the link!

When I tried to do that yesterday and going back to change it, it seemed to completely disregard anything I put and just used the title tag. And I think it's a mod which has been added to the forum. Have a look at: http ://www.vbulletin.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-155909.html. I still think I'd prefer just to be able to post the link and it stays as the URL rather than have to go

Code:
[ url = http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-155909.html ]
http ://www.vbulletin.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-155909.html[ /url ]
Note the space in the link which is shown.... Not ideal but that's the only way to stop the Mod pulling the title tag in.

And another link http ://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=146679%20?.
