This Tutorial to help those who have problems with cgi scrits.

You need to go though following steps to execute cgi / perl scripts in your web hosting space :-

1. Make sure that you upload your cgi / perl scripts inside cgi-bin directory only. cgi-bin is located inside your public_html directory incase of linux / cpanel hosting. Incase of windows plesk account you need to upload them inside cgi-bin located inside your httpdocs directory.
2. Set 755 permissions to your cgi / perl scripts. Your cgi / perl scripts wont execute without 755 permission and 777 is not allowed by the server.
3. To execute cgi / perl scripts outside cgi-bin you will need to add following code inside .htaccess ( if not there then make it inside public_html ) :-

Options +ExecCGI
AddHandler cgi-script cgi pl

where are these directories. i ftp.redchair.info and there are none of the folders youdescribe. Help

Am I supposed to make my feedback form with .cgi or php or .asp

I think you can use the file manager option from cpanel for this.

cpanel also has a link for its documentation which is quite handy.

Your feedback form should be in php or asp, but your mailer script which will collect - process - send the information to you should be in .cgi. It can be in .php or .asp as well.

You can choose formail.cgi which is a free mailer script for forms. You will need to go through some online documentation to design the form and if you choose .php mailer then you will need to take help of some php developer.
