Creating a new site - UK Web Hosting | Dedicated Server Windows and Linux VPS Forum

My VPS Hosting package allows me to create new website hostings for users. Each website hosting created creates the user, an entry in httpd.conf, their standard home directory etc...

Since most of these website hostings are run by me, is it possible to set these website hostings up as owned by (talking file permissions here) a user that already exists on the system? Via the front end this is a no-no, just wondered if there is a shall script that does the work and can be modified.

If not there is always the chown option I guess.

Chown is the only recommended option in this case. If you need a shell script then you will need to make it on your end as per your requirements. I have some knowledge of shell scripting so you can let me know what exactly you need.
